Five autumn days in the Scottish countryside, surrounded by books, creativity and like-minded women.

We're bringing together 12 women aged 18–28 for a retreat designed to slow things down. A chance to read, create, explore Scotland, share ideas and build genuine friendships in a beautiful historic estate.

Whether you come with a friend or arrive on your own, this is a space where everyone is welcome. There are no expectations, no pressure to be productive, and no need to be "good" at anything. Just bring your curiosity, your favourite book, and something you've been wanting to create.

The Rhythm of the Retreat

Bring the novel you've been meaning to read, your sketchbook, journal, knitting, or any creative project calling your name. Each day we'll also explore a thoughtfully curated creative activity designed to awaken imagination, embrace play, and remind you that creating doesn't need a purpose it can simply be joyful.

Getting There

Traquair House is easily accessible from Edinburgh by train or bus. We'll share recommended travel options before the retreat, and if you'd like a little extra support, you're welcome to reach out—we're happy to help coordinate your journey or arrange transport from nearby stations for an additional cost. Please note that travel to and from the retreat is not included.

Surrounded by ancient woodland, rolling hills, secret gardens, and centuries of history, the estate offers a truly magical setting to slow down, reconnect, and immerse yourself in nature. With elegant historic interiors, peaceful walking trails, and breathtaking scenery in every direction, Traquair provides the perfect backdrop for a deeply restorative retreat.

Who is the retreat for?

This retreat is for women aged 18–28 who want to feel the magic of connection, art, reading, girlhood. A moment to be whimsical, relax, detox from everyday life and feel the magic that Scottland has to offer.

No experience in art, writing or any creative hobby is needed just an open mind and a willingness to try something new.

What kind of creative projects can I bring?

Anything you'd enjoy spending time on!

Writing, painting, photography, crochet, knitting, journaling, sewing, illustration, design—or simply a sketchbook and an idea.

There are no expectations or experience required.

How do I get there?

The easiest way is to travel to Edinburgh before making your way to the Scottish Borders.

A complimentary pick-up and drop-off service will be available from the local bus stop near the retreat.

An optional shared airport transfer from Edinburgh Airport may also be arranged for an additional fee, depending on guest arrival times.

Full travel information will be sent after booking.

All meals prepared at the house will be homemade and vegetarian, using fresh seasonal ingredients.

During meals out, there will be the option to choose meat or other dishes if preferred.

The retreat follows a gentle rhythm rather than a strict timetable.

There will be a balance of creative time, group activities, adventures and free time to relax.

A full itinerary will be sent before the retreat begins.
